Starting with an extensive stay in the Karst Mountains south of Guilin, the journey continues to the world famous rice terraces of Yuanyang in Yunnan. The small villages and the surreal landscape leave an astonished impression. We introduce to you the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lijiang. The Old Town is surrounded with foothills of the Himalayas and we also give the opportunity to visit the picturesque Baisha. The legendary Tiger-Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest on Earth, concludes this trip and provides the experience of seeing the tremendous Yangtze River. Additionally, you can book two days more in the city of Shangri-La.
This trip to South China takes you to remote provinces, backed by the mountains that make up the eastern part of the Himalayas. From its main cities to its distant valleys, your holidays will transport you to territories populated by ethnic minorities. This circuit in South China offers you plenty of visits to cultural sites and hikes in the heart of the terraced rice paddy fields, which are some of the most famous on the planet. A trip to southern China can take you to the heights of Yunnan, at the foot of snow-capped peaks. These holidays will finally allow you to discover the famous landscapes of the Karst Peaks around Guilin and Yangshuo in the Guangxi province.

Guangxi and Yunnan: The Best Of South China – Itinerary
Day 1: Flight to Guilin
Arrival in Guilin and transfer to the hotel in Yangshuo. Dinner with the guide and free time afterwards.
Day 2: Yangshuo
Orientation walk to Bilian Peak, which offers great views of the surrounding area. In the afternoon, ride on a bamboo raft up the Li River towards Xingping for around one and a half hours. You will experience spectacular views along with the bizzare Karst stone landscapes of Yangshuo. Close to Xingping you will see the landscape that is printed on the Chinese 20 Yuan note. For kids we are able to arrange other activities, such as kayaking or archery.
Day 3: Yangshou
On this day you will take a bike ride to the Black Buddha Caves and later to the famous Moon Hill, a natural stone arch and landmark of Yangshuo. In the afternoon you are free to spend some time on your own, enjoy the numerous cafés around you or just read a book near the river. Optionally, you can book a hot air balloon flight, which would provide some exclusive astonishing views of the Karst Mountains and the fields among them.
Day 4: Yangshou – Guilin -Kunming
Transfer to Kunming, where you visit the beautiful Green Lake and enjoy dinner afterwards in the vibrant big city.
Day 5: Kunming – “Shilin” Stone Forest – Jianshui
On the way to Jianshui you will visit the famous Stone Forest 90 kilometers away from Kunming city. The Karst stones form a unique landscape and your guide will show you the area few tourists walk through. After arriving in Jianshui, a visit of the astonishing old town is planned. A short walking tour brings you to the main sights: you will visit of the historic old town gates of Jianshui and the second largest Confucian Temple (Wenmiao) of China. Wenmiao features beautiful Taoist architecture and gardens.
Day 6: Jianshui – Yuanyang
From Jianshui the road leads you directly into the world famous rice terraces of Yuanyang. Enjoy the views all the way to Shengcun, where you will spend the night. Your driver will stop at several view points and you’ll be able to view the sunset overlooking the rice terraces, which is truly amazing. Its best to spend the night in a small village within the rice terraces.
Day 7: Yuanyang – Kunming – Lijiang
Transfer to the beautiful old town of Lijiang. After arriving, dinner and a short orientation walk is planned.
Day 8: Lijiang
Visiting this UNESCO World Heritage site is a specialty. We are inviting you to visit the most beautiful parts of this mountain-surrounded city and will introduce to you one of the most photographed sites of China, the Black Dragon Pool. In the afternoon you will visit the smaller city of Baisha, which could be considered as the untouristy counterpart to Lijiang.
Day 9: Lijiang – Tiger Leaping Gorge
The last highlight of the journey will be the Tiger-Leaping Gorge. Here, the torrential Yangtze River makes its way through those narrow lanes. We are offering you a two-hour hike to the river bank, which will introduce you to the real force of this river.
Day 10: Tiger Leaping Gorge – Lijiang
After breakfast we will bring you to the airport.
