Tenzin was born in Deqen, 200 km away from Shangri-la, nearby the Mekong river. The area is one of the most beautiful parts of Yunnan province and from her village one can see the peak of the 6,700 meter high Mt. Kawa Karpo. Since her university degree in 2009 she is the business owner. Tenzin is the co-founder of Tibetmoto. Tenzin leads her team, coordinates hotel and flight bookings, communicates with local partners and guides, and applies for permits from government agencies, such as the Tibet Travel Permit or the Aliens’ Travel Permit for foreigners traveling to Tibet. She also accompanies new pilot tours or scouting tours and takes photos. She set up our homestay in her hometown, which we visit on many tours.
Tashi is as well as Tenzin from Deqin and works as motorbike Tourguide and driver, Road Manager and Mechanic. He is a trained chef and learned English during a two-year language stay in Ireland. He speaks not only English and Tibetan, but also Chinese and many local dialects. With his language skills, ingenuity, his open manner and the willingness to always be at your side with advice and action, he is indispensable for many tours. In addition to his work as a road manager and tour guide on-the-road, Tashi also manages the fleet of 18 motorcycles and 2 support vehicles in Shangri-la.
Manuel was born in Vienna and discovered his passion for riding motorcycles along the southern coast of Brazil and up in the Indian Himalayas. His interest in cultures, languages and travel brought him on a path where he studied International Development and later Conference Interpreting, managed construction sites in Mozambique, worked as an armed polar bear guard in the Arctic and learned from indigenous cultures in the Amazon. For many years Manuel has been guiding groups in different contexts and in 2018 he began guiding motorbike tours in Asia. The leitmotifs of his guiding work include respect, curiosity, friendship and joie de vivre.
Joe is originally from southern Germany and has lived in Chiang Mai Thailand for over 30 years now. In Chiang Mai he runs his own workshop. As an experienced mechanic, Joe accompanies our motorcycle tours in Thailand and Southeast Asia and is responsible for the vehicle fleet.
Svenja’s motorcycle affinity family (father: founder of one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in Germany) put her passion for motorcycle travel in her cradle from an early age. She studied International Tourism Management and came to our company Tibetmoto Tours in China during her semester abroad. During her internship, she helped design motorcycle tours such as the Eurasia Tour. And even today she is not only involved in the product area, but also in the field of marketing and content.
Anne studied digital media in germany and came to our company Tibetmoto Tours through her internship. During her internship, she updated our website and successfully wrote her bachelor thesis “Implementierung und Designgenerierung einer Webseite mit dem Content-Management-System WordPress” in cooperation with Tibetmoto Tours. Now she works for us and takes care of the website.
‘Uncle’ has been a driver for over 30 years and knows every street in southwest China like the back of his hand. With his good mood and driving experience on the streets of Tibet, he maneuvers the wagon even through difficult situations and always lends a hand when necessary.
